Miceller Face Cleanser

2 MIN READ

This is a simple micellar face cleanser/makeup remover. I formulated this simple yet effective miceller for my teen daughter, who needs something gentle and not too harsh for her sensitive skin.

Also, I avoided using any fragrance or essential oil so that this micellar cleanser will be as gentle and not irritating as can be.

Ingredients:

  • 47g distilled water
  • 30g camomile hydrosol
  • 10g Aloe vera juice
  • 3g glycerin
  • 2g coco betaine
  • 2g Yucca extract
  • 4g cucumber extract
  • 2g preservatine (Leucidal liquid)

Method

  1. In one beaker we mix the water, hydrosol, aloe vera juice, and glycerin.
  2. In another beaker, we mix the two surfactants (Coco betaine and Yucca extract).
  3. Combine the two and mix.
  4. We measure the cucumber extract and preservative and add them, mixing everything gently.
  5. Pour into a spray bottle.

Notes:

  • You can substitute the camomile hydrosol in any other hydrosol you prefer, or with distilled water, I choose to use camomile hydrosol for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

  • You can substitute the aloe vera juice with distilled ware. I recommend using aloe vera juice which helps to moisturize the skin, and it's an antioxidant.

  • Glycerin is an excellent humectant that helps the skin to retain moisture. If you prefer the cheaper version of Propylene glycol, you can substitute the glycerin with it. Honey is another ingredient that can replace glycerin. I personally use vegetable glycerin.

  • Cucumber extract is excellent for clogging pores and firming up the skin. You can replace it with different extracts such as calendula extract, blackberry extract, lavender extract, almond extract, or many other extracts that can benefit the skin.

  • I used Leucidal liquid as my preservative. If you choose another preservative, please read the percentage recommended by the supplier. If you need to change the formula due to a different percentage of your preservative just add or subtract this percentage from the distilled water amount.

  • If you wish your micellar water to have a pleasant fragrance, you can add 0.5 gr of fragrance or essential oil, subtracting this 0.5 gr from the distilled water amount.

  • For my chosen preservative, the shelf life of this micellar will last up to three months.

  • For my surfactants, I choose Coco betaine (INCI: Cocamidopropyl Betaine it's a mild amphoteric surfactant) and Yucca extract (non-ionic surfactant that can be combined with any other surfactants). Both are on the mild side of surfactants, and that is how I wanted my Micellar to be, gentle and mild.

Hope you enjoy this formula!
