DIY Cosmetica is a hobbyist resource for people who want to make natural cosmetics at home. The recipes, articles, and ingredient guides on this site are shared for educational and inspirational purposes only — they are not medical advice, dermatological advice, or professional formulation consulting.
Before you make anything
Read every recipe in full before you start. Sanitize your work surface, your tools, and your containers. Wear gloves and eye protection where the instructions call for them. If you have a known allergy, sensitivity, skin condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are formulating for someone who is — please research each ingredient yourself and check with a qualified healthcare professional before applying anything to skin or hair. Do a patch test, every time, on a small area of skin and wait 24 hours before using a product more broadly.
Your responsibility
You are the formulator in your kitchen. It is your responsibility to:
- Verify the safety of every ingredient you use, at the percentage you use it, for the people who will use the finished product.
- Source ingredients from reputable suppliers and check their certificates of analysis where available.
- Follow good manufacturing practices — clean equipment, accurate scales, accurate thermometers, the right preservative for water-containing products.
- Comply with the cosmetic regulations of your own country, region, or trading bloc if you sell anything you make. The legal bar for selling cosmetics is high (CPNP in the EU, FDA / MoCRA in the US, INCI labeling, stability testing, safety assessment, allergen disclosure). Nothing on this website should be read as approval to sell.
What we do and do not warrant
DIY Cosmetica is published in good faith. We test our recipes in our own kitchen and try to keep ingredient information accurate and current, but we make no guarantee that the information here is complete, error-free, or up to date. Ingredients change suppliers, INCI names get revised, and what works for our skin may not work for yours. Anything you do with the information you find on this site, you do at your own risk. DIY Cosmetica, its owners, and its contributors will not be liable for any losses, damages, injuries, allergic reactions, or other adverse outcomes arising from your use of the recipes, content, or any product you make using them.
External links
This site occasionally links to third-party websites — ingredient suppliers, equipment vendors, scientific references, and partner content. We do our best to link only to sources we trust, but we don’t control the content, privacy practices, or terms of those external sites. Once you click through, please read their privacy policy and terms of service. A site we link to today may change tomorrow, and we may not catch it before you do.
Affiliate disclosure
Some of the ingredient and tool links on DIY Cosmetica are affiliate links — most commonly Amazon Associates. If you click through and buy, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to products we’d actually use ourselves; affiliate revenue does not change which ingredients we recommend.
