Natural Cream Deodorant

DIY deodorants are easy and very effective. They do not clog the pores, so they will not block the sweat.

Natural deodorants contain ingredients that help absorb moisture which helps to feel less sweaty and control the body odor.

This is a paraben-free deodorant with no baking soda or aluminum. Baking soda can irritate the skin for those with sensitive skin, so instead, we are using zinc oxide (non-nano).

Zinc oxide eliminates odor-causing bacteria by minimizing the growth of new bacteria. We combine the zinc oxide with white kaolin clay and arrowroot powder. Both absorb moisture and keep odors to a minimum.

The natural deodorant will not prevent you from sweating (sweating is your body's natural cooling mechanism, so we don't want to stop it).

If you wish to make it vegan, you can change the beeswax to vegetable-origin wax.

If you choose a wax with a higher melting point, you should reduce the amount of wax.

For example, if you choose to use candelilla wax, use only half the wax from the recipe (1g candelilla wax). In this case, you will need to add 1g of coconut oil or mango butter instead of the reduced 1g of wax.

Method:

1. In a heat-resistant beaker, add phase A. Start with the beeswax, then add the coconut oil and mango butter.

2. Place phase A into a double boiler on medium heat.

3. Once phase A is melted, add phase B (the zinc oxide) and stir to combine.

4. Add phase C (the clay and the arrowroot powder) and mix well to combine. I use a mini homogenizer to help me create a smooth texture. You can use an immersion blender.

5. Once the texture is smooth, add phase D and mix to combine.

6. Pour into containers, and the deodorants are ready.

7. To use the deodorant, make sure your skin is dry. Apply a small amount with your finger, spread the cream until absorbed. You can re-apply the deodorant after several hours if you wish.
